If you’re a pet parent who believes your dog deserves nothing but the finer things in life, Casper is here for you. Engineers at the revolutionary mattress company developed 110 prototypes, underwent 460 hours of laboratory testing and conducted 11 months of dog sleep studies to develop a durable mattress for man’s best friend. And apparently, it’s pretty amazing.
That’s right, people are raving online about the bed for a number of reasons. For starters, it’s so comfortable, even a human would enjoy it. “Best decision to buy this for my boy. We both love it. It’s comfy enough for me to sleep in,” one person said.
That’s probably because it has pressure-relieving memory foam and bolsters around the sides that create a head rest and cozy protection. But that’s not the only thing folks are excited about.
Since the mattress is also wrapped in fabric made out of the strongest bonded microfibers available, it’s sounds almost impossible for your dog to rip through. “My puppy, Pan, is a dog bed destroyer, and has ruined several regular beds already. He doesn’t destroy anything else, just dog beds. No clue why … This bed is different though … The covers are easy to remove and wash, and they seem extremely durable,” said another. Yep, the cover is removable and machine washable (whew).
It seems like the company has thought of everything. For instance, since dogs’ wild ancestors passed down the trait of digging at the ground before laying down (they used to do this to kick up dirt to find cooler ground to sleep on), Casper even wrapped the mattress in layers of material to mimic the sensation of pawing at the loose Earth.
The bed comes in three different sizes for small, medium and large dogs, and ranges in prices from $125 to $225 (casper.com). You can pick from three different colors, all of which are subtle and way more stylish than most designs out there.
But before you think everyone’s crazy for spending that much on a dog bed, people are saying it’s definitely worth the investment. “I was a little embarrassed to purchase a dog bed that was this expensive, when 1) our dog may not like and 2) she would just get it dirty and possibly chew it into a million pieces. Thankfully she loves it and even refuses to lay in bed with us because her bed is way more comfortable,” one review reads.
And just like their human policy, the company offers a 100-night trial, so you won’t have to worry about buying, only to realize Spot prefers sleeping on your piles of dirty laundry instead (typical).
But we have a feeling this bed will more than meet your dog’s expectations — and yours. In fact, you might find yourself feeling the tiniest bit jealous and need to buy a human version for yourself, too.
